Identity

Amongst other things, identity is used to describe who we are, what values we stand for, and who or what we belong to. From the latin "idem", meaning "the same". Identity refers to what stays the same about a person over time, making us recognizable. On one hand, it is something unique, as it is what separates us as individuals from others. However, it is also about how we are similar to others who belong to the group we recognize as our own.
